Winchester Model 1894 Restoration

This is a complete restoration of a Winchester 1894 .30 W.C.F.. When it came to us, the wood was completely oil-soaked and missing pieces out of both the stock and fore end, the barrel had been overtightened so badly that it was flopping loose on the action when timed, and the metal had suffered at least one poorly executed refinish in the past.

The action had pitting and sloppy file marks overall, and had to be completely polished out and the edges reshaped. The stock was stripped before pieces were laid into the missing chips in the head and fore end. They were then sanded and fit to the action and butt plate before being refinished. The barrel was set back by a full turn and re-chambered, the magazine tube was cut to match the barrel, and both were rust-blued.

Here a flat is being machined from the chipped out section on the head of the stock so that a piece could be laid in, fit to the action, and re-finished.
